The night kicks off with our Chili Cook-Off\, where church members will bring their best homemade recipes to compete for category prizes and ultimate bragging rights. A panel of official judges will taste each entry and crown our chili champions! (And just to be clear… we’re talking real chili here — no canned chili allowed!) \nWhile the judges are hard at work\, everyone else can grab a bowl and enjoy all the delicious entries while joining in on Family Game Night. We’ll have a mix of games for all ages — from casual card games and board games to big group favorites that’ll have everyone laughing together. It’s going to be an evening filled with warm food\, friendly faces\, and plenty of fun\, all completely free. So whether you’re cooking\, competing\, or just coming hungry\, make plans to join us for one of the most fun nights of the fall! \nWe can’t wait to see whose chili reigns supreme — and who gets caught sneaking in the canned stuff!

This incredible ministry through Samaritan’s Purse gives us the chance to send the love of Jesus around the world—one shoebox at a time. \nStarting on October 26th\, you can pick up your shoeboxes in the courtyard after services. Each box can be filled with simple but meaningful gifts—things like toys\, school supplies\, hygiene items\, and notes of encouragement. Every shoebox is a tangible way to show a child that they are seen\, loved\, and not forgotten. More importantly\, each box opens the door for children and families to hear the life-changing message of the gospel. \nWe encourage you to get your family\, friends\, and even neighbors involved in this opportunity to make a global impact. DESCRIPTION:We are excited for this chance to celebrate the Lords Supper meal as a church family on April 17th @ 6 PM. \nJoin us for a family oriented Seder meal where we will walk through the Last supper that Jesus and His disciples had on the night He was betrayed. This is an event for the whole family with traditional foods. Elberta Student Ministry is hosting this event this year\, donations are welcomed to help pay for their summer camp. \nRegistration is required.

DESCRIPTION:We are holding auditions for the Worship Team. This is a chance for us to talk with you about your music experience as well as hear your voice or listen to you play\, so we can understand your musical abilities. \nFor vocalists/singers\, we ask that you sing a little bit of “Take You At Your Word” and showcase both the main melody and a harmony. \nFor instrumentalists/band members\, please play a little bit of “Take You At Your Word” and demonstrate your proficiency both individually and in a group setting. Contact Chase for chord chart/sheet music. SUMMARY:Discipleship Weekend 2025 /// Serve The Lord
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Discipleship Weekend 2025 where we will dive into our theme for this year\, Serve The Lord. This is sure to be a weekend of encouragement for all of us\, a time for the whole family! Last year was our first Discipleship Weekend and its goal was to create a discipleship plan for our church\, this included launching our Home Groups. This year\, our goal is to encourage our church family to dive deeper in living their faith through serving. \nABOUT OUR SPEAKER \nWe are excited to have a special guest speaker for the weekend\, Dr. Brett Golson. Dr. Brett Golson was recently appointed as the Vice President of Strategic Operations. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi\, a B.A. degree from William Carey University\, and a Master of Divinity\, Master of Theology\, and Ph.D. from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Before joining WCU in 2012\, Dr. Golson served as a full-time pastor and adjunct professor at Mississippi State University. He has led thirty-five trips overseas and numerous trips within the United States. Dr. Golson served as the chair of the Christian Ministries department where he developed the Cross-Cultural Business Management major in collaboration with the School of Business\, the Christian Ministries major\, and the Arabic Language and Culture Program. Additionally\, he launched the Intercultural Studies major\, which allows students to study missions while pursuing a double major in their chosen professional field. Dr. Golson holds the rank of “full professor” and has previously served as the Dean of the Cooper School and Vice President of Church Relations. Dr. Golson received the HEADWAE Outstanding Faculty Award recognized by the Mississippi State Legislature in 2014\, was named Faculty Member of the Year in 2013 and 2018 and was honored as Administrator of the Year in 2024. In his new role\, Dr. Golson will provide leadership for various departments at WCU\, including Admissions\, International Admissions\, Recruiting\, Media and Marketing\, Alumni\, Military Engagement\, and Church Relations. Dr. Golson is married to Karen\, and together they have four married children. They are active members of Hardy Street Baptist Church\, where Golson also serves on staff.
